Cecil was a well known and celebrated lion, living peacefully in Hwange National Park in Simbabwe. He was a tourist draw to the park and was part of a study conducted by Oxford University. He was also the father and leader of a pride consisting of several females and numerous cubs. In July Cecil was killed by a big game hunter. His carcass was found beheaded and skinned. I did this crude drawing to celebrate and remember Cecil in the only way a beginning artist like me can. Cecil, you did not live in vain. The world is a much different place because of you.

Love your blog, website. Fantastic photographs of birds and animals. I love your drawings as well. Pencil drawings really bring life to a subject, I think, and do not obscure anything like colour can. I found you on Explore.org, on the Katmai bears videos.

I am and I did.:) hmm ok I don't want to bore anyone with my stuff on the bear chat, so if you go to Deviant Art I am zeldaautumn. You can see the bears there, also a sunrise from the other morning over Katmai and some other arts I have done. You are welcome. Just home from work, and trying to settle so I can watch for bears.:) Be well. OK, I went to Deviant Art and checked out your gallery, Pirate Autumn. Wow! There's some amazing stuff there. I left a few comments on some of it, but if I said everything about all I saw, I'd be there all night and then some. Nice colors in your color works, and really nice light effects in your black and white pieces!

Thank you Michael for the kind comments. The sunrise only took an hour, I was in a zone. The bears took 2 hours. Both have been posted up on the bear chat, the bears one twice. I only do art because I always have and have to, same with writing. When I feel compelled I must do it. No training, quite a bit of online study and looking at Monet and some of my other faves. Off to work soon. Have a great day. :)
